For this assignment, I answered the 5 questions listed at the end of Chapter 4 of Story of Human Communication:Cave Painting to Microchip. The questions were related to the development of writing.
For this assignment, I wrote about the social conditions that encourage the development of libraries. Then I discussed those factors as it relates to the early libraries within Mesopotamia.
For this assignment, I wrote about the few of the many ways diffusion impacted libraries in the Middle East
I used this power-point for a short presentation about scriptoriums within medieval-era Europe.
I used this power-point for a presentation about the Spanish Inquisition and the Index of Prohibited Books which are two examples of how intellectual freedom has been violated in post-Reinassance Europe.
This was a Midterm paper, in which focused on various topics, ranging from the invention of printing, history of European university libraries, and the Library of Congress.

I wrote about how libraries are the "sanctuaries of collected memories" and how vulnerable they are to conquerors and totalitarian regimes. I mention that library destruction is an assault on the mental health of those it serves.
There are many cases where totalitarian regimes go to great lengths to enforce conformity to their vision. This paper focuses on the case of communists in China and Tibet.
